I stumbled upon these nourrices recently and I was fortunate in that an elderly low water fisherman saw me looking at them and we got talking and he said these were built before the second world war by the Chalet Hotel to keep a stock of lobsters for their guests, I guess the steel bars maybe old rail tracks.

The Societe Jersiaise Bulletin for 2007 on pages 327 to 331 has an article by Mary Gibb and Ralph Nichols "Nourrices at Rozel Harbour, and elsewhere in Jersey"

Plans have been submitted to extend the pier 7 or more metres in width to halt the subsidence which has been caused by the dredging of the harbour. Funds will come from the fiscal stimulus fund.

Concerns about this project are the loss of habitat especially for two IUCN red listed molluscs Truncatella subcylindrica (the looping snail) and Paludinella
litorina which were recently discovered by Paul Chambers of the Societe Jersiaise marine biology section after he undertook some brief surveys of the area.

Responses to an Environmental Impact Assessment scoping document were sent in on the 19th.
